Kara Rood MD

OB/GYN Asst. Professor OSU, Advisor for Postpartum Hemorrhage

Dr. Rood is a maternal fetal specialist and professor of obstetrics and gynecology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada, Dr. Rood received her medical degree from Saba School of Medicine, Netherlands Antilles. Dr. Rood completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Bridgeport Hospital in Yale New Haven Health Systems, CT, and a fellowship in maternal fetal medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. She joined the faculty of at Ohio State as assistant professor in the Department of Ob/Gyn in 2016.  

Dr.Rood serves as medical director of substance prevention and treatment in pregnancy clinic and is PI on multiple industry grants and local PI for several MFMU studies. Her primary research focuses on PPH, substance abuse in pregnancy, hypertensive diseases of pregnancy, critical care in obstetrics and maternal mortality.
